Good Morning Van Buren Co. Schools Parents & Families! This week is National School Lunch Week, October 9-13. In 1962, President John F. Kennedy created National School Lunch Week to help promote the importance of a healthy school lunch in a child's life both inside and outside the classroom.

Van Buren Co. Middle School 8th graders took part in CTE Preview today. Eighth graders visited each of the CTE teacher's to learn more about their programs. Van Buren Co. High School currently offers the following CTE Programs/Classes: Construction, Health Services, Audio/Visual, Agricultural Engineering, Enviromental and Natural Resource Mangement, Horticulture Science, and Business. FLU VACCINE CLINIC coming to Van Buren County Schools! Our school system is partnering with the Van Buren Co. Health Dept. to provide a Flu Vaccine Clinic on Tuesday, October 10, for students and staff! Forms will be sent home with students this week and must be completed by parents and returned to school by Monday, October 9, in order to for students to participate. Staff forms may be picked up in the front office of either school. Please contact Kelly Lewis @ 946-7371 with any questions.

TRAFFIC ON SPARTA STREET - Beginning today (9/19) traffic cones will be placed alongside Sparta Street in front of the schools to prevent traffic from blocking the entrances and exits in the mornings and evenings. It is also important that traffic does not sit in the roadway or on the side of the roadway during morning student drop-off and evening pick-up. The county ambulance service, Generations, and personal homes must have clear access to the road at all times. SES gates will open at 2:40 pm for parent pick up. Pickup for both schools begins at 2:55 p.m. Morning dropoff for both schools begins at 7:30 a.m. Thank you for your understanding in this matter. It takes all of us working together to ensure the safety of our community.

Good Evening Van Buren County Families: Tomorrow, September 7th will be Parent Teacher Conferences from 3:30-7:00 PM. Please remember that conferences will start promptly at 3:30 PM. During this time there will be a lot of exciting events taking place: -Kelly Lewis will be hosting Strengthening Parent and School Partnerships to Reduce Cyberbullying @ 3:30, 4:30, & 5:30 in the VBHS Auditorium. Parents who attend a session will be entered into a drawing for a $75 gift card! -Both SES and VBHS will have their Book Fairs open from 3:30-7:00 PM in their libraries. -The Junior Class will be hosting a Taco Salad dinner in the VBHS Cafeteria. Good Afternoon! This is a reminder to let you know that LEAPS Afterschool Program began on Tuesday, September 5th. The LEAPS Afterschool program runs from 3:00-5:00 PM. Please remember that students need to be picked up promptly at 5:00 PM. Also, as a friendly reminder there will be No LEAPS Afterschool Program on Septermber 7th due to Parent Teacher Conferences. Good Evening! The Junior Class will be hosting a Taco Dinner during PTC on September 7th in the VBHS Cafeteria. The meal will include taco salad, dessert, and drink for $10. All support is greatly appreciated!
