Van Buren County Families -
Van Buren County Schools, the Sheriff's Department and Spencer City Police are aware that the TBI is currently investigating a series of hoax calls made to various county E-911 dispatch centers falsely reporting an “active shooter” in those respective schools. If Van Buren County dispatch receives one of these calls, as always, county emergency services and the school system will respond to the call appropriately and will be placed on lockdown until it is determined to be a false threat.
In any event, we will communicate with families as soon as information is available.
The registration deadline for VBCYA baseball ends tomorrow (Friday, April 28) night at midnight. After that there is a week for late registrations, but it is $10 more to register late. Get registered tonight! Register at this link:

Happy Administrative Assistant's Day to these three ladies! We are so thankful for all they do for our staff and ultimately for our students. If you see Renee' Guy, Joan Moffitt, or Amy Solomon today be sure to tell them how much they are appreciated!
VBCS Families,
The Van Buren County Board of Education voted last week to use two of our remaining snow days as teacher professional development days. This results in a change to the school calendar for this school year. We want to make families aware in advance so child care arrangements can be made.
Monday, May 8th and Monday, May 22nd 2023 will be teacher/staff professional development days. Students WILL NOT attend on these days.

VBCS Families,
This morning, around 7:45 am a malfunction in the alarm system at the high school building occurred. It was determined that the system could not immediately be reset and therefore students and staff would need to relocate to the auxiliary gym. Fire department personnel quickly determined that it was safe to return to the building. Work is currently being done to prevent this from occurring again.
We are extremely proud of how our students, staff, and community handled this situation!
We apologize for any confusion this event may have caused. Thank you for your understanding through this.
