Class of 2020,
The Van Buren County Youth Association is excited to announce that for the second year in a row we’ll be awarding a $500 scholarship this year to a deserving senior. To be eligible for our scholarship you must have participated in the VBCYA program at some point during your school career. While not the deciding factor, special consideration will be given to applicants with more years of participation in VBCYA, and who are interested in a career centered around helping young people.
Proof of registration at the beginning of the 2020 fall term to the institution of their choice is required to receive the check.
Please email your completed application to Dustin Sullivan at sullivand1@vanburenschools.org by April 24th. Applications will be looked at & judged by members of the VBCYA board.
The VBHS FFA and Agriculture Department would like to say a huge THANK YOU to all of those who supported us by purchasing plants. We had a large turnout and all were sold. We appreciate your support during this uncertain time!

SENIOR CAP & GOWN PICTURES:
We know that your senior year of high school is an important and meaningful time. We would like to still try to honor this senior class as much as we safely can. We have decided to have your cap and gown pictures made this Thursday, April 16th by appointments. Due to photo lab closures, we are offering a digital print release for $30. You will receive a digital copy of the image and will be able to go and make prints on your own.
Here are the following instructions regarding Thursday’s pictures:
- Parents must remain in the vehicle outside. Only the senior may enter the building.
-Enter through Coach Sullivan’s outside back door.
-Boys need to bring a button-up shirt and tie. It does not have to be white. We can provide one for you if you do not have one. Please call and let us know.
- All caps, gowns, stoles and sashes will be provided for you to wear.
-There will not be a makeup day for these photos. Please make every attempt to be at school on Thursday, April 16th.
- If your assigned time does not work for you, please call (931) 946-0166 and let us know if you will be coming at a different time. Photos will end before noon. If you need a ride, we will come get you. Please call and let us know.

Attention Juniors, Seniors, and Parents:
Due to new developments, the Prom date for Thursday, April 9 has now been canceled. As of now, Friday, May 8, will be the new prom date. Once again, May 8 is the new date for Prom. We are hopeful that this date will work out.

Attention Juniors, Seniors, and Parents:
We wanted to give you an update about the progress of Prom. Currently, Prom is scheduled for Thursday, April 9. This is still in place. However, if the date must be changed, the alternate date will be Friday, May 8. This date will be our second option. April 9 is still the date, but May 8 is the alternate date.
Attention VBHS Seniors and Parents,
The drink sale will continue until April 7th. Money and orders are due at 8:00am on April 7th.
Delivery date will be April 30th. We will update you if anything changes between now and then.

This is a reminder for 6th and 7th grade parents: There will be a 30-minute informational parent meeting to discuss the 2021 trip to Washington DC with Worldstrides led by Mrs. Cronin on Thursday, March 12th at 5:30 in the high school library. Two $50 scholarships for the trip will be given away, but you must attend the meeting and register your child by the early registration deadline to qualify for the drawing. We hope to see many of you tomorrow at 5:30pm. Thank you.

Tomorrow, February 18th, is Spring Portrait Day for students in grades 6-8. If your student is older and you would still like for their pictures to be taken, please have them come to the auditorium when 8th grade students are called. Pictures will begin at 8am.
Also, Friday, Feb. 21st is the last day to pre-order a yearbook with a name plate. At Parent Teacher Conferences on Thursday, Feb. 20th, there will be a table set up in the back lobby for you to order, or see Mrs. Farmer in Room 22.
Tomorrow is Spring Picture Day! Students in grades 6-8 will have their spring portraits taken tomorrow! We apologize for the short notice. Pictures will begin at 8am.
